THE AIM OF THE EXPEDITION:
Ascent on Jabal Haroun (1350 m) and reaching the depression of the Dead Sea: minus 408 meters, that is - the lowest point of the Earth!

EXPEDITION
Our expedition – this time more exploration than mountain action – will start with sightseeing in Ammanu, the capital city of Jordan. We will visit there ancient buildings remnants such as the Citadel Jabal al-Qala or the Roman Theatre. The next day will be spent in Jerash. It is a beautifully preserved Roman city, located just over 10 km from Amman. It dates back to the times of Alexander the Great (333 BC). We will also visit the temple of Zeus and the temple of Artemis – patron godess of the city.
Then we will go towards South, where we will first go to Petra, the ancient capital city of the Nabataeans. Known since 312 BC, it was discovered again in 1812 by J. L. Burchard and on 7th July 2007 it was announced to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We will spend here 3 days. Petra is located in the south-west part of what is now Jordan on a half-desert terrain, enclosed by 100 m towering rocks of the Valley of Moses (Wadi Musa) extending on approx. 1,6 km distance from East to West and from North to South and being the west part of Jabal Mabrak massif. This time, apart from visiting temples (carved out of rock Al Khazneh, popularily known as 'The Treasury' and also known from 'Indiana Jones and The last Crusade') vaults, admiring colourful rocks, our aim will be Jabal Haroun (1350 m).

From Petra, we will go to the red desert area of Wadi Rum. This area is one of the most popular tourist regions in Jordan. Lodging in the Bedouins' tents, an off-road car drive, sunrises and sunsets, an all-day walk on dunes should give us truly unforgettable experiences. From the desert, we will slowly go back, staying in Madaba – famous of its beautiful Byzantine mosaics. Then, we will make a trip to the Dead Sea – its surface is situated on - 418 m (the lowest point on the Earth). The surface of the lake has 1020 km2 and its maximum depth is - 399 m. While driving there we will reach the biblical summit Mount Nebo (where Moses was given a view of the promised land) and we will go to the place of Chist's baptism by the Jordan River.
